  • Ron Jackson - Mercedes Sprinter

Vanlifer replaced bed cabinetry in our Mercedes van. Jason discussed and suggested layouts and materials that could work. We provided a basic layout drawing of what we wanted, which Vanlifer turned into an excellent CAD drawing so we could visualise the end build. Our minor suggestions were incorporated into this design. Vanlifer completed the build over the next week. We are very happy with the result and their high level of workmanship. We would definitely use them again. Our thanks go to the skilled team at Vanlifer!

  • Steven Grant - LDV Deliver 9

Self containment test was quick and easy. I booked online showed up and they did the rest. I have purchased other products from vanlifer in the past when converting my van to a camper and found them reliable and well priced. Would highly recommend.

  • Kristian Trainor - Toyota Hiace

Excellent service, I booked in to have my campervan inspected for its self contained certificate, these guys inspected it and issued the permit on the spot, no waiting for it to come through in the post etc… (many places can take 1-4 weeks to receive it )

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Kits?

The campervan conversion kits contain ply panels, table leg and all the hardware to construct a two berth camper. For an additional cost you can also purchase floor panels, plumbing, electrical, squabs, curtains or self containment certification.

What type of board do you use?

We use 15mm high quality birch plywood which is stronger  and more durable than alternatives. For extra durability we recommend painting or staining the ply either before assembly or after installation.

What tools do I need?

You will need a screwdriver, either hand driven or electric.

How long will it take to assemble the Base Kit?

It will take someone experienced at working with tools 3 to 4 hours. However we say take your time and complete the installation across a weekend.

How do I fix the Base Kit to the floor and walls of my van? Are the fittings provided?

For health and safety and peace of mind we strongly recommend fixing the Kit to the floor of your van.

Can anyone assemble the Base Kit?

Yes, anyone can assemble the Conversion Kit. If you can assemble a flat pack book shelf you should be fine with our Kits.

My van is not listed. Do you have a kit for me?

We continuously expand our offerings based on emerging demand, including the development of LDV campervan conversion kits and Ford Transit campervan conversion kit designs. If you don't see your van listed, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email. There's a possibility that we are working on a kit tailored for your van model.

Can I view a Base Kit before purchasing?

We have display vans in Auckland and Wellington. Send us an email and we can arrange a viewing.

Can the Base Kit be removed?

With the removal of a few screws the Base Kit can easily be removed.

Will Vanlifer install the Base Kit for me?

The Kit is designed for self assembly and installation. We can assemble the kit for a small charge but you will have to install it yourself.  We can also give you the names of third parties who will assemble and install the kit for you. however we won’t take responsibility for fastening the unit to the base of the van or drilling any holes required.

Does a Base Kit with the Self Containment Option meet NZ Self Containment regulations?

Installing a Base Kit with the Self Containment Plumbing Option and a portable toilet will meet CURRENT NZ Self Containment regulations for two people.

Contact Self Containment NZ for independent advice if you have any concerns.

Can I just buy a part of a Campervan Conversion Kit?

The Base Kits are sold as shown. Due to our manufacturing processes we cannot sell partial kits or individual sections.
